About the Experience Festival

WHO ARE WE?

We are Gruntwerks LLC, an organization whose mission is to build community, self-respect, global awareness, & educate through art & celebration. We believe that given the opportunity & environment, people of all ages will come together & share in this experience we call life. We welcome & encourage everyone to be involved!

Each year we take applications from 501-3C non-profit organizations & choose one or more of them to receive a percentage of the profits for that year's event.

Beneficiaries for 2010 to be announced.

The Celebration

A fantastic collective of community artists, non-profits, cooperatives & healers blend together under the canopy of trees. Unique mixes with bizarre to create a world that sparks your imagination. Create an interesting piece of art out of what others have thrown away, dance the May Pole, share an idea, message or experience on the "Soap Box" or add a personal message or affirmation to the "Peace Tree"! Wander into the " Enchanted Forest " to plant some seeds or paint a picture while learning some easy ways to recycle & protect our planet. Visit the " Costume Castle " for a little change of character then get some advice from "The Fairy Godmother"! Join in the parade behind our mascots, "Rufus", the tie-dye dragon & "The Elder Princess", who, by the way is VERY in touch with his feminine side while still retaining his masculinity! Who says you have to grow up??!! Wait! What was that growling noise? Just you're empty belly? Refill it with yummy goodness & delicious delights! We bring together a pleasant variety of tempting flavors & cultural dishes from local food vendors to tantalize your palette! While you sit and dine, let national & local acts wow & amaze you with an eclectic mix of musicians and cultural dances.

THE COMMUNITY VILLAGE
These are the people in your neighborhood. We are providing a forum for free communication, inviting Non-profits and cooperative organizations to share their message and experiences. We are dedicated to education, information access, and networking for positive change. If you represent an organization that would like to participate or contribute in any way please contact Jim at headhippie@cableone.net

THE SUSTAINABLE VILLAGE

"Sustainability" and "Green" are becoming main stream topics of discussion. "Sustainability" is the concept of meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Issues such as Global Warming, overpopulation, rising fuel and energy costs due to Fossil Fuel depletion, deforestation, habitat and species loss and water use issues are increasing in the media and in political debate.

How do we as world citizens make a difference here in Idaho?  Join us at The Eagle Island Experience, where we will explore a broad range of sustainable and environmental issues, solutions, and technology. We will cut through the green wash, as we share viable ideas and tools to incorporate into your lifestyle and home, to make our community a more sustainable place to live.

Topics included:

  • Sustainable Living Education / Discussion Group Series Information

  • Green Gardening Tips - Including lower water use planting schemes and composting.

  • Organic Food Products

  • Green Building Technology

  • Solar Energy for Residential Construction.

  • The Exercise Bike Generator Project

  • Recycling

"The nation behaves well if it treats the natural resources as assets which it must turn over to the next generation increased, and not impaired in value." - Theodore Roosevelt

ARTs & CRAFTs "BiZaRrE"
This year we are joining forces with a fantastic collective of community artists to bring you one amazing experience. The unique mixes with the bizarre to create a world that sparks your imagination. While experiencing the magic, help put the finishing touches on the mandala that has been created for the community (everyone) to complete, build a community out of recycled materials, or create an interesting piece of art out of what others believe to be trash. If you enjoy one-of-a-kind treasures, unique artisans, or the freedom to be creative…then this must be the place.

YUMMY GOODNESS AND DELICIOUS DELIGHTS

Options abound. We bring together a pleasant variety of tempting flavors and cultural dishes from local food vendors and organic cooperatives.

ENCHANTED FOREST

Somewhere over the rainbow lies the Enchanted Forest .  A magical area filled with animals, flowers, twinkle lights and love! Kids of all ages can come here to learn about the environment, recycling and living gently on the earth while playing games and creating artwork.  Check out the bicycle generator built by our very own Ian Sullivan, a fifth grader at Garfield Elementary in Boise . Visit the " Costume Castle " where you can transform into a fairy, a knight or a disco queen (or King!) for the day!  Get "muffinized" by our Fairy Queen and Magic 93.1 Crazy Psychic, Sheila Martel! Hang out with the drummers from Drum Central and express your inner tribal beat!  Play, create, be, have fun and share the joy of being alive!
